Full to the Brim

New people are everywhere and the MSc students haven't even arrived yet. Last year when I arrived our office was virtually empty, now it is full to the brim. So much so that advisors have begun asking students if they would consider switching so they can get their students a desk up here. I guess with 10 women and a huge window we are seen as the office to be in. Yesterday one of the 4 guys, a visiting Chinese student gave up a desk, which he didn't use, to a visiting French professor.

I have to admire her, she's here for a year working with Professor Allerton, but it isn't as if she came alone. She has 4 children under the age of 12 with her and her husband is in France holding down his job. And to top it off, she speaks about as much English as I do French. Pretty gutsy if you ask me.

Anyway that brings the number of women up here to 10 out of 13 possibilities. Jason, Carlos, and Hou are hopelessly out numbered. The office has suddenly become much more international as well. Among the new inhabitants we have a Spaniard, Brizillian, Itialian, and French. This should make for much better food if we decide to hold a pot luck some time.
