Weeked in Berlin

I'm back in Merry Ole England after a whirlwind trip to Berlin. Brian and I spent most of the weekend bumbling around trying to find stuff for both his apartment and to keep him warm this winter. I must admit Berlin is a lot colder than Cranfield, but maybe it will also be warmer in the summer.

I'm not sure we really suceeded in getting Brian's apartment up to scratch, mostly because we couldn't get rid of any furniture that was there. In trying to decorate his bedroom the problems included a sea-green carpet, pea great curtain (which was a floor to ceiling job covering the entire back wall) and an uppolstered headboard in some mustard yellow patterned fabric. We did our best and when Brian sends along the pictures I'll post them.

The living room was a little easier as most things were wood. Unfortunately none of it matched... And it was complemented by some lovely white alumninum side tables, peach curtain-lets, and some diagonally hemmed (with fringe) lace. So we bought a carpet which matched the phone and went along with the 70s theme. We removed the ratty not-quite-sure-what-the-original-color-was table cloth and the cheap cow placemats, and the place looked a little better.

We also desparately tried to find a washingmachine rental place, and have come to believe that they do not exist in German culture. So when I left Brian was still in need of a tall plant for one corner. Three pieces of cloth to cover the two end tables and the table we decided to use as a laptop stand (also white and alumnimum). Other than that his living room just needed some coordinating nicknacks and pictures.
