Barcelona Pictures

Here is a summary of our Barcelona trip in photos:

Here I am in the Placa Real outside a really nice restaurant that we and all other European tourists flocked too.

This is Barcelona's harbor. The picture does not do the water color justice. It was aquamarine and clear. We could see the fish swimming around waiting to be fed. This was my first glimpse of the Med. and I was not disappointed. It was easy to see why people put to sea with water that blue and temperatures that warm. God only knows why the English put to sea.

Brian sitting next to the harbor, with a bridge to the deep water port in the background.

Me looking out at all the ships. Note the gimp knee that won't quite bend.

3 different houses all remodelled at the same time in different styles. Gaudi did the one in the middle.

Another Gaudi creation called La Pedrera. The next picture is of me next to the building as we wait to go in. Note the crazy curved stone blocks. I don't think any two were the same. The following pictures are Brian and I on the roof. Gaudi really liked decorating the chimneys.

This is a bridge in Parc Guell that Gaudi designed (he actually designed the entire park) Mr. Guell wanted to create the eqivalent of a golf course community. It didn't work so the park was later turned over to the city.

Me on the long wavey bench in the park. It was remarkably comfortable, and had a great view of the sea.

Now we are off to the La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's most famous creation. This great cathedral has been under construction for over 100 years. They are trying to finish it off for 2026 the aniversary of Gaudi's death. The inside is supposed to look like a forest.

This is the Nativity Facade that Gaudi did himself.

And last but not least is the Maritime Museum (which was really neat). This is a replica of one of the warships like seen in "Ben Hurr".
